i 'm going to be tested soon, as my two aunts have gramdmother and thalasemy, I think so too, seem to fit the symptoms, I get tired really easy and I have trouble breathing. also suffer from excesive sweat …. are there 'as possible, "SA connection between the two? Like my body sweats because any effort is considered too large for the body or something similar? thanks thalasemy course means least, if I wouldn 't be here:) thanks also, if you have knowledge on the subject, perhaps you can answer this too http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index; _ylt = AlfT_htWshXI6REkv0QFUO7sy6IX; _ylv = 3? qid = 20090925070234AAxOJzB thanks a lot actually, from what I understand, you can get the minor thalasemy of only one parent (yes, the girls are sisters of my mother, my mother isn 't tested), if you get both, there's a great possibility of SA you die at birth or shortly after, or you blood transfusions need all his life, ei 'fine … i' m, m pretty sure I Thales of minor importance. but i 'm really not referring this, the question was more Hyperhidrosis, I want to understand where it 's coming from and one day happened to me that they might be connected. I 'm going to ask my doctor when I get tested anyway, I just wanted your opinions. thanks

Hi, hyperhidrosis is not a recognised symptom of thalassemia minor.

But tiredness and shortness of breath are; however they’re also symptoms of many other disorders including anaemia.

As thalassemia is an autosomnal recessive disease, you’d have to inherit the faulty gene from both parents.

The fact that your grandmother and two aunts have the disease is probably explained (if your aunts are your mother’s sisters) by the fact that they shared the same parents who were both carriers of the gene and both passed it on to these children when they were conceived.

As long as your father is not a carrier, which would be unlikely, even if you inherited the faulty gene from your mother, you would still not develop thalassemia.

    Anaemia is much more likely.

If you don’t want to wait for your test results, you could rule out anaemia with a home-testing kit from your pharmacist.

    Take care.
